Moral Stories for KidsThe Colors of Forest

Animals of all sizes lived together in harmony in a beautiful forest full of life and color, located by rivers and hills. A Peacock by the name Rohan was famous for his dazzling feathers which glittered in the sunlight. Rohan was a peacock that had the shiniest blue, green and gold feathers in his tail. He strutted through the forest with the grace of a king.

Rohan’s beauty was admired by many, but it eventually got to his head. Rohan used to mock and ridicule other animals, especially the ones with plain appearances. He once made fun of a squirrel by calling its bushy brown tail “a messy broom” and laughed calling a tortoise “boring” for its shell. Animals had grown tired of his arrogance, but they chose to tolerate it to avoid conflict.

Kids Moral Stories: The Fire and the Forest

The forest dried out one summer: rivers shrunk, grass turned brown, and trees withered under the weight of the burning sun. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck an ancient tree which made flames sweep and flow across the forest.

Panic spread over a great area when the animals went into a frenzy. Birds left the
treetops, monkeys swung through branch after branch, and deer sprinted in every
possible direction. Despite the apparent chaos, the wise old owl, named Tara,
called, “Follow me! There’s a river bank near a cave that can shelter us!”

Like everyone else, Rohan heard the cries and rushed toward the cave. But
when he reached the cave, he faced a serious challenge. The cave’s
entrance was too narrow for Rohan’s grand feathers to fit through. He tried
every possible option, like turning sideways, crouching, and folding his
feathers, but they were too wide, making it impossible to get through the
 entrance.

All the other animals were looking at Rohan and trying to understand
his clown like behavior. His bullying came to mind, but instead of choosing to
disregard Rohan, everyone came to the conclusion to help Rohan and
that choice was the beginning of everything.

Moral Stories for Kids: Kindness Despite Arrogance

All the animals rushed outside the cave, to help Rohan beat the bullying they…”had as a team, they were laughing the entire time, which of course unusually surprised Rohan. The squirrel Rohan once mocked retrieved through the vines to get to a were with a second smaller entrance, that they used to pull trees was shredding at it. Then intentionally they created the entrance he intended. The rest of the rabbit and the deer tried too assisting them didn’t like burning his ends to pull them. Frustrating.

Carefully and compassionately, the animals managed to pull Rohan just in the nick of time before the fire engulfed the entire cave entrance. The animals inside the cave were not only safe, but the heat from the fire was also impossible to bear. The animals remained huddled in silence.

As Rohan surveyed the cave, the animals he had once mocked began to make sense. The squirrel with her matted tail, the tortoise with his cracked shell, and the dirty pigs Rohan disliked. Despite Rohan not deserving help, every single one of these animals banded together to help him.

Rather the proud feathers he once cherished, he was beginning to tear up over the pure kindness and unity he just had the privilege of the experience.

Kids Moral Stories: A Life Changing Lesson

Once the fire extinguished and the animals were able to explore the world again, the animals noticed incredible devastation. The animals moved out into what was dubbed to be “their” world. Even with large portions of the cherished home burned to a crisp, the animals were alive and that brought incredible hope.

As he gathered all the animals, Rohan bowed his head. “I have been foolish,” he said. “Your kindness saved my life. I will cherish my heart instead of appearance.”

Life returned to normal as the animals forgave him. Rohan kept his promise. He boasted no longer about his feathers and began to assist in the rebuilding of homes for those who lost them.

Not only did the forest community grow closer and stronger, but Rohan was also growing his reputation, now known not only for his beauty but also for his generous heart.
